Sometimes registrars operate multiple registrar IDs. If the registrar wants to switch a domain from one to another, they will process renewal of that domain as a transfer. When this happens, it causes a few visible side effects:
- This process is not quite as quick as a regular renewal; it usually takes a few hours.
- The domain may sit in the state "Transfer waiting for Losing Registrar Approval" during that time.
- You may receive a transfer confirmation email with a line that says it can be ignored if you recently renewed the domain.
This is perfectly normal. It does not indicate a problem or that anything bad is happening to the domain. It's only visible because we have made changes to our system to provide members with more information from our registrar about the status of domains. Some of that is intended for their internal use and isn't always written with end users in mind.
