If your domain is registered through us but is set to require manual renewal, follow these steps to renew it:
- First, make sure you have sufficient funds to process the renewal in your account.
- Go to the Domains panel.
- Click "Manage" in the "Registrar" column for your domain name. (If this column says "Transfer" or "n/a" instead, the domain is not registered through us.)
- Click the "Renew This Domain" action.
- Select the number of years you want to add.
- Click the "Renew Domain" button.
- Review the summary to make sure it is correct.
- Click the "Renew Now" button.
- Click "Manage" in the "Registrar" column for your domain name.
- Use the "Lock Domain" action to protect you from domain hijacking.
If your domain is registered with us and it is set to auto-renew, it will renew automatically for another year about a week before expiration. No action is needed on your part, provided there are sufficient funds in your account. (If there's not enough available to pay for the renewal, you'll be warned repeatedly and often.)
If your domain is not registered through us, you will need to contact your registrar to renew it.
Remember, any renewals add on to the existing registration. So if it is May 2023 and your domain expires in August 2023 and you purchase a one-year renewal, your new expiration date will be in August 2024, not May 2024. There is no penalty for renewing early!
Regardless of the renewal method, the maximum length of time on a domain registration is ten years from today. So the longest possible renewal is for the number of years that puts the expiration date between nine and ten years into the future. Our system won't let you select a number of years for renewal that exceeds the allowed maximum of ten. (This also means that for a domain that expires in more than nine but less than ten years, our system won't let you attempt to renew it at all.)
For example, if today is May 16, 2025, and your domain expires on May 21, 2030, you can renew it for a maximum of four years, making the expiration date May 21, 2034.
